Back to Basics

How does this relate to business. A new beginning is where you can wipe the slate clean and use your renewed energy to really kick start your business to achieve your revised goals.

Here are a few back to basic pointers to ensure the next term/year is fruitful for you:

A - Ask For A Meeting

Astute networkers will be using this month to reacquaint themselves with networking associates. I know from organising networking events that people are now biting at the bit to get back into the swing of meeting others. Work your way through your contacts database and ASK key contacts for a meeting to see how you can help each other get more business.

B - Because ....

Avoid having meetings just because. Before you book your meetings, either with a client or a fellow networker, determine your objectives for the meeting. Make your objectives SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely e.g. I want to meet networker x because I want to tell them about a new scheme I'm launching. I would like networker x to send an email introducing me to 5 of their clients and promoting the scheme on my behalf and I will reward him/her with 10% of the value of the sale as an introduction fee.

C - Confident Attitude

Think of times when you have exceeded your own expectations and consider the times when you have exceeded your clients' expectation. Write down all the things that you did to make that experience so special. Use that list to remind yourself that you have done it before and you can do it again then stop procrastinating and start contacting potential and existing clients.

D - Do It!

Like Nike's moto "Just Do It". Be clear about what you want to achieve and start taking constructive and positive action towards achieving those goals and everything will fall into place.

"To think too long about doing a thing often becomes its undoing"
